Over the past few years, Disneyland has been introducing seasonal themes at character dining locations around the resort. This year, the autumn-inspired character dining breakfast and brunch, “Mickey’s Autumn Adventures,” will return to Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian for the Halloween season!

Keep reading for more details on Mickey's Autumn Adventures at Storytellers Cafe in 2025, including pricing, menu, booking date, and more! You can see everything you need to know about Halloween at Disneyland in our full guide.

Autumn-Themed Character Dining Offering at Disneyland

Mickey’s Autumn Adventures at Storytellers Cafe

Storytellers Cafe, located in the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, has an autumn-inspired breakfast and brunch during the fall at Disneyland. The experience features seasonal decor and characters in festive looks. It will be offered from August 22 through November 16, 2025, slightly longer than the duration of the Halloween celebration at Disneyland. Bookings open on July 15.

Storytellers Cafe is generally one of our favorite Character Dining experiences at Disneyland, with high quality food and a cozy atmosphere. You can enjoy this seasonal option as an early breakfast before heading to the parks for the day or consider it for a late breakfast on the final day of your trip to end your vacation on a high note, as park admission is not required.

This year, there is also a new Halloween character dining dinner called “Clarabelle’s Enchanted Halloween Dinner” that will be offered at Storytellers Cafe as well! You can read about that new Halloween character dining experience here.

The Mickey’s Autumn Adventures Breakfast Buffet will be served from 7:00 AM to 10:45 AM. You can enjoy a breakfast buffet including the following:

Sold Out 2025 Oogie Boogie Bash Nights

Judge Doom at Oogie Boogie Bash

In our discussion of tips for getting Oogie Boogie Bash tickets, we mentioned how certain party nights are more popular and tend to sell out quicker than the rest. So far, the dates that have sold out are very much in line with which nights we expected to sell out first.

In August, the first Oogie Boogie Bash party takes place on August 17, which is also a Sunday, one of the more popular days of the week that tends to sell out the fastest. We can see that so far, this first party night and another Sunday on the 31st have already sold out in August. Since we first published this article as of this update, no other August Oogie Boogie Bash dates have sold out.

Multiple additional dates in September and October have sold out. The current sold out dates for Oogie Boogie Bash those months are –

September 2nd, 9th, 16th, 18th, and 28th have sold out, and several October nights have sold out (2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 16th, 19th, 23rd, 26th, and 31st).

Spending the 4th of July at Disneyland can be a great way to celebrate the holiday with themed 4th of July fireworks and specialty food options. Disneyland always puts on a great 4th of July fireworks show, and it is one of the most popular days of the year to watch fireworks at Disneyland.

I have spent nearly every major holiday at Disney including the 4th of July so let's get into all our best tips on how crowded Disneyland is on the 4th of July along with my best tips on dealing with the crowds, where to watch the fireworks, and seasonal food items Disneyland offers for the holiday.

READ MORE – Here’s a Secret Way to Skip the Line For This Hidden Gem Attraction at Disney California Adventure

Is Disneyland Crowded On the 4th of July Weekend?

crowds on Main Street at Disneyland

One of the biggest impacts of crowds at Disneyland is Magic Key holders. For the 4th of July, three of the five passes (Believe, Imagine, Enchant Key) are blocked out for the 4th of July and the Saturday and Sunday after. This means that Magic Key holders will have a significantly small impact on the parks aside from the higher tier Inspire pass. You can expect more tourists traveling to the parks at this time, so this doesn't mean that the parks will be empty, but having three large groups of passholders blocked out from visiting will definitely help ease the crowd levels in the parks.

Disneyland 4th of July doesn't come close to competing with much more popular holidays like Halloween or Christmas. We rated the 4th of July on our Disneyland crowd calendar as normal crowds, with the following Saturday as above normal crowds. You may be surprised at how manageable Disneyland can be on the 4th of July.

The part of the day that will feel crowded? The fireworks show.

Disneyland 4th of July Fireworks

Disneyland fireworks

Disneyland puts on a special 4th of July fireworks show to celebrate! The 4th of July Disneyland fireworks can only be seen on this one holiday, so expect a one-of-a-kind display honoring America.

The show will focus on red, white, and blue fireworks along with patriotic music as stars and stripes are projected on Sleeping Beauty's Castle. As you can expect, 4th of July fireworks will be especially popular at Disneyland. During the day, crowds will feel normal, but once you get ready to line up for the fireworks show, this is when you will feel the impact, as anyone who is in the parks that day will definitely be seeing those fireworks!

Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky is scheduled for 9:35 on the 4th of July.

Where should I watch the Disneyland 4th of July fireworks?

Disneyland fireworks

You don't want to miss the special Disneyland 4th of July fireworks show! This is one of the best fireworks shows of the year and shouldn't be missed! Here's our top spots in Disneyland to catch the fireworks:

In front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle

This is easily the most popular spot to watch the fireworks show from. If you want to watch the fireworks show from in front of the castle, you need to prepare yourself to arrive at least three hours prior to the show on the 4th of July to get a good spot. It's a long wait, but can be worth it if you want a good view for the projections on the castle. You will get the full experience of the show with the projections on the castle and seeing the fireworks go off directly behind the castle. There's a reason this is the most popular spot- it really is the best!

Near the Partners Statue

This spot is also quite popular, but since it's a bit further back than directly in front of the castl,e you can sometimes get a good spot without waiting three hours in advance. You still want to dedicate at least two hours to lining up in this area. Pro tip: if you stand directly behind the Partners Statue, you won't have to worry about anyone's head obscuring your view, and you can lean against the rail.

Main Street, U.S.A.

You can find a good spot to watch the fireworks from anywhere on Main Street, and the projections will play on all the storefronts. This is also an easy place to grab a spot that doesn't require nearly the same amount of advance lining up that the castle does. Cast members will rope off certain areas to keep the traffic moving, so make sure you're not saving a spot in one of these areas. I'd say you can grab a spot an hour before the show or less in this area.

In front of “it's a small world”

If you want to avoid crowds, the best place to watch the fireworks is in front of “it's a small world.” You won't see the castle, but the same projections are displayed on the “it's a small world” facade with the same music. The fireworks will be going off just to the left of “it's a small world.” You can usually walk right up a few minutes before the fireworks and get a good spot here.

Along the Rivers of America in Frontierland

If you happen to be catching the first showing of Fantasmic then stay right where you are to enjoy the fireworks, which will happen right after it ends. The Rivers of America water screens will display the same projections that happen during the fireworks show.

Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge Experience

If you'd rather opt for reserved viewing, then there's always the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge experience, where you can enjoy desserts and both hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages. This isn't exactly the best view of the fireworks and you won't see the projections, so reviews of this experience are a bit mixed.

Disneyland 70th Anniversary Entertainment

Disneyland 70th anniversary decor Town Square

This year Disneyland is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a full lineup of entertainment, food items, and specialty merchandise.

There is so much fun entertainment happening at Disneyland right now, here are all the special 70th anniversary offerings you can work into your 4th of July.

  • The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade is a daytime 70th anniversary character cavalcade that runs along the parade route, featuring favorite Disney characters, Mickey and friends in their 70th attire, and some rare additions like Duffy and ShellieMay. This calvacade takes place twice daily at 1:30 PM and 2:45 PM. You can see photos and more details about this cavalcade in our separate article here.
  • Paint the Night is a fan-favorite nighttime parade returning for Disneyland's 70th anniversary, featuring over a million LED lights and several popular Disney and Pixar characters. You can read about some of the new changes that were made to the parade here. The parade will run at 8:45 PM and 10:45 PM each night. If you want to watch both the parade and the 4th of July fireworks, be sure to read about our strategy to get the best spot for both.
  • Tapestry of Happiness is a 70th-anniversary projection show on the facade of “it's a small world” that is a “visual love letter” to Disneyland, inspired by the work of Mary Blair. Showtimes are at 9:50 PM, 10:20 PM, 11:30 PM, and 11:45 PM. On nights when the park closes at 11, it shows at 9:50 PM and 10:20 PM.
  • Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! is a returning daytime parade at Disney California Adventure featuring over two dozen Pixar characters from favorite films. The parade takes place twice daily at 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM.

World of Color is also featuring a new show for the 70th anniversary called World of Color Happiness! hosted by the Inside Out Emotions.

Disneyland 4th of July Food Guide

The 2025 Disneyland 4th of July food guide has not yet been announced yet, but you can see last year's offerings for reference.

The Disneyland 4th of July food guide features a few notable themed treats available at candy locations around the resort, along with a variety of NEW themed drinks in Downtown Disney.

Disneyland Nighttime Spectaculars

There are plenty of other nighttime spectaculars you can enjoy at Disneyland 4th of July while waiting for the fireworks! Some of these shows happen right before the fireworks happen, so you can reserve your spot for one and stay in that same spot for the fireworks show.

Fantasmic!

Fantasmic! takes place at 9PM on the Rivers of America and if you opt for a dining package, you will have front row viewing for both the show and the fireworks that start at 9:30 immediately after Fantasmic! ends making for a nice lineup for both shows. This can be a great strategy for managing the Disneyland 4th of July crowd levels. Fantasmic! is a wonderful nighttime show full of Disney magic from classic films featuring Mickey Mouse, daring stunts, fireworks, fire, projections and more.

World of Color show at Disney California Adventure

World of Color

World of Color is a nighttime spectacular that takes place in California Adventure which tells the stories of beloved Disney movies on larger-than-life water fountains in front of Pixar Pier. This is a dazzling show and is a must-see. It doesn't exactly line up neatly with the fireworks, so if you can see it on a different night, then that's your best bet. However, it's possible to try and catch the second show that starts at 10:15PM if you hustle out of Disneyland (and you have a park hopper ticket!) and into California Adventure after the fireworks end.

Military Musicians

In a tradition Walt Disney started, the Disneyland Resort has long supported the military and even has a Business Employee Resource Group (BERG) called SALUTE, dedicated to advocating for cast members who are actively serving or have served.

Military performances that may take place over the 4th of July celebrations include California Army National Guard’s 40th Infantry Division Band, and 1st Marine Division Brass Band, and 1st Marine Division Groups – Popular Music Group, Brass Band, & Ceremonial Band.

“Military bands have a long history of tradition, excellence and precision,” shares Marine veteran and SALUTE BERG leader, Ariel Elias. “During my time in the military, I was always in awe and felt proud that our military bands had a longstanding history since the inception of the military branches. Now, our cast members and guests will have the special opportunity to see and hear those bands that inspired us many times before.”

These bands bring entertainment and celebration to the guests, thanks to the cast members who welcome them to the Disneyland Resort in this time-honored tradition. If you happen to be visiting Disneyland Resort during the Fourth of July weekend, be sure to check out these performances.

Disneyland 4th of July Patriotic Attractions

Disneyland Flag Retreat Ceremony

There are also some great patriotic attractions and ceremonies you can find around the parks to celebrate America on your Disneyland 4th of July day.

Flag Retreat Ceremony

Each day at Disneyland you have the chance to view The Flag Retreat Ceremony at Disneyland at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. which is one of the ways that Disney honors our past and current military members. This is just one of the many way's that Walt Disney's patriotism is kept alive in the parks, “Actually, if you could see close in my eyes, the American flag is waving in both of them and up my spine is growing this red, white, and blue stripe.” -Walt Disney

The Flag Retreat happens daily, but check the daily Disneyland calendar for the most current times, as these can change. Guests are asked to join in the Pledge of Allegiance before the Flag Retreat begins, followed by a chorus of “God Bless America” with the crowd removing their hats and putting their hands over their hearts. Current service members and veterans are invited to come and stand by the flag during the ceremony. The Color Guard lowers the flag while the National Anthem is performed. After the ceremony, the Color Guard and cast members have a short procession down Main Street, U.S.A.

Tom Sawyer's Island

Designed by Walt Disney himself, the island was designed to be a place to step into Mark Twain's novels with bridges, pirate caves, and plenty of areas to explore.

Disneyland Canoes

Mark Twain's Riverboat

Take a ride around the Rivers of America in this 19th-century themed paddleboat.

Sailing Ship Columbia

You can also enjoy a ride on the Sailing Ship Columbia which was modeled after the original Columbia ship from the 19th century.

Disneyland Railroad

Enjoy a grand circle tour around Disneyland and celebrate the Western frontier.

Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes

Take a paddle around the Rivers of America and celebrate the American legend Davy Crockett in this ride that most guests tend to skip.

There is so much to do and celebrate at Disneyland on the 4th of July!

Tickets for Disney California Adventure's after-hours Halloween party, Oogie Boogie Bash, go on sale very soon! This popular event runs from mid-August through the end of October on select nights and features rare characters and villains, trick-or-treating, and a special Halloween parade.

There is very high demand for this event, and it sells out, so you need to make sure you're ready to act quickly when tickets go on sale! Below, we will detail our Mickey Visit top tips for getting Oogie Boogie Bash tickets this year.

Oogie Boogie Bash Tickets Have Sold Out FAST and Crashed Site Previously

finding oogie boogie tickets

Note, please click here to see all the 2025 Oogie Boogie Bash dates, ticket prices, and tickets on sale info for your consideration before reading more about the ticket tips. Note that some groups also get earlier access to ticket sales.

A couple of years ago, there was an infamously hectic ticket sale where tickets sold out in under a day after the demand actually crashed the Disney site. Afterwards, we saw tickets on sale on eBay and Craigslist for insane prices—some were even listed at $1,999.99. This incident was understandably enough of a deterrent for some to skip Oogie Boogie Bash altogether, but rest assured that the process was much less chaotic last year, which sets a new precedent for what we can expect this year.

Last year, certain more desirable dates still sold faster than others, but overall, the process was a lot calmer, and those who were getting tickets reported that they were able to quickly purchase and had a minimal wait. The event sold out in 11 days, which was dramatically less rushed than the previous year.

This year, there are even more party dates added. These actually will kick off on August 17, before the official Halloween celebration at Disneyland even begins. This should hopefully continue to spread out the demand for this popular offering and make the ticket sales process even smoother. That being said, you'll definitely still want to be diligent about grabbing tickets quickly when they go on sale if you want to secure your ideal date.

With all of that in mind, here is everything you need to know about purchasing Oogie Boogie Bash tickets this year!

Tips for Getting Oogie Boogie Bash Tickets

Oogie Boogie Bash parade

The most important thing to know if you are getting tickets this year is that even though tickets sold out more slowly last year, you still should not wait to buy them, especially if you are planning a specific party night into dates of an already booked trip or are aiming to attend the party on a particularly desirable date.

As opposed to some of the Disneyland After Dark events like Star Wars Nite and Pride Nite this year, where tickets were on sale all the way up until the party night, Oogie Boogie Bash tickets will most likely all sell out again this year. We recommend deciding firmly on whether or not you're going before the tickets go on sale, as once they do, there's not a ton of time to make a drawn-out decision.

These are our top tips for getting your Oogie Boogie Bash tickets when they go on sale next week. See the link in the article above for the specific on sale dates – these vary for certain groups who may get early access.

  1. Party tickets for the event nights on Sundays and Thursdays typically sell the fastest. If you're planning on attending on these days of the week, it's best to be ready in the queue right when the tickets are first released. You can also expect the dates closest to Halloween to sell out quickly. Be sure to have a date and a backup date in mind.
  2. Tickets will go on sale no earlier than 9 AM PT on Disneyland.com. We recommend getting to this page around 8:30 AM. LOG IN to your Disney account at this point. Make sure you already have a credit card linked. Do not wait to log in until you are in the queue. The waiting room to purchase will open at approximately 8:45 AM.
  3. As you're waiting in the online queue to purchase tickets, you can be notified via email when it’s your time to enter the ticket store. Once in the queue, choose the “notify me” option and enter your email address. Be sure to monitor this so that you don't miss this notification.
  4. Note that you can purchase up to 8 tickets per Disney account, and different dates must be purchased in different transactions.
  5. Reminder – you do not need to have a ticket purchased for the day that you want to attend the Oogie Boogie Bash party. The party ticket serves as your ticket for the parks starting at 3 pm that day, as stated below. We actually recommend not getting a regular admission for this day so that you don't wear yourself out before the event begins. See more Oogie Boogie Bash mistakes to avoid.

Warning! Beware of Resale Tickets

Judge Doom at Oogie Boogie Bash

If tickets sell out for the night you want to attend, do not buy resale tickets that you may see online. Watch out for Facebook groups that advertise tickets as well. Disney does not allow ticket reselling and cracks down on those who do resell, and they will turn away people who are using tickets that they acquired through a reseller. This is absolutely not worth the risk, so please do not go this route if you are without tickets.

One option, though this is not guaranteed, is checking to see if there are additional tickets released to the concierges at the Disneyland Resort Hotels. We have seen this in the past, and it is a reasonable option to investigate if you find yourself without a ticket, but again, there is no guarantee that these will be available.

Disneyland's 70th anniversary celebration introduced a ton of entertainment offerings to the resort, from the fan-favorite Paint the Night parade to the debut of a new World of Color show. While the anniversary celebration runs from May 2025 to summer 2026, there are certain offerings that will pause to make way for seasonal entertainment.

Disneyland just announced some changes to 2025 Halloween celebration, including confirmation of which Disneyland 70th anniversary offerings will be going away temporarily and which will be staying. This is important to know if you have a trip planned! See details below…

Disneyland 70th Anniversary Offerings Pausing for Seasonal Celebrations

While certain 70th anniversary experiences can continue to run uninterrupted during the Halloween celebration, others will need to pause temporarily. This is important to know if you want to visit while all of the 70th anniversary offerings are running—if so, the time to do this is between now and August 21. You can see our separate article on why you might want to consider visiting during an even more specific window within that timeframe after some more new 70th additions debut.

The “Paint the Night” parade, “World of Color Happiness!,” “Tapestry of Happiness” projections on “it's a small world,” and 70th additions to Toy Story Midway Mania! will all continue to be offered during the Halloween celebration.

This means that a few other 70th anniversary entertainment offerings are pausing, including Wondrous Journeys, “The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade,” and the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” Parade. We assume that these same offerings will be paused during the holiday celebration as well.

We also know that some areas of the park will keep their 70th anniversary decorative touches during the Halloween celebration, like the castle sculpture in the esplanade, for instance. The MagicBand+ interaction points and Key to Disneyland experience will also still be available.

You can see our separate articles, including our Disneyland 70th anniversary entertainment strategy and ranking of all of the Disneyland 70th anniversary offerings, for everything you need to know if you are planning on visiting during the anniversary celebration.

Disneyland has just shared some more information about the upcoming Disneyland Halloween celebration (see dates and details at link)! The celebration will include some favorite returning offerings as well as new changes.

This is one of the best times of the year to visit Disneyland, with so many fun special offerings across the resort. Keep reading for a breakdown of the changes you can expect during the 2025 Halloween celebration at Disneyland!

Disneyland Halloween Returning Offerings

Main Street Pumpkin

The celebration will include returning offerings like the iconic Halloween decor across the resort, the “Halloween Screams” nighttime spectacular, and Disneyland's Happiest Haunts Guided Tour that includes Multi Pass Lightning Lane access to a select attraction and reserved viewing for “Halloween Screams.”

Halloween overlays of attractions will also be returning, including the fan-favorite Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland Park and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark in Disney California Adventure. And, of course, the celebration will feature a variety of Disneyland Halloween-themed foods, including returning favorites and new treats. Pluto's Pumpkin Pursuit, a scavenger hunt for Disney-themed pumpkins, will take place across the resort. Plaza de la Familia, honoring Día de los Muertos, will also be returning to Disney California Adventure.

Disneyland also just announced the ticket sale dates for the Disneyland Oogie Boogie Bash parties this year. See all of the 2025 Disneyland Oogie Boogie Bash tickets info and dates here. There were no new additions announced for the Oogie Boogie Bash parties, which we are a little disappointed about. While there is enough demand for this offering that there is no need to make any changes, Disney did hint at some interesting potential changes and additions in a survey released last year. There technically is still a possibility that they will drop an announcement about new offerings later on, but there is nothing new shared as of right now. That being said, there will likely be at least some new characters added, as they usually introduce some new villains each year to the Oogie Boogie Bash Treat Trails, like they did most recently for Hades and Dr. Doofensmirtz.

NEW Disneyland Halloween Character Outfits

This year, Mickey and friends will have new Halloween looks featuring purple, green, and orange colors. These are a twist on their 70th anniversary outfits! We always love the cute Halloween looks that Disneyland puts together for the characters each year. It's such a fun element that adds to the great atmosphere of the celebration!

Disney Pixar Coco Collection

Disneyland Halloween merchandise Coco

There will be a new Disney Pixar Coco Collection available this year that will feature new apparel, accessories, headwear, and more inspired by the film. This will be released in early September! We really loved the Coco collection that was released for Plaza de la Familia last year (pictured above). Disney hasn't shared a look at this new merchandise collection quite yet.

There will also be other special merchandise available, including the return of the Mickey Mouse Family Halloween Collection. More Halloween collections will be revealed at a later date.

NEW Villain-Inspired Cocktail Menu

Broken Spell Lounge space

The Broken Spell Lounge at the Disneyland Hotel will feature a cocktail menu themed to Disney Villains for the first time! This sounds like so much fun, and we're excited to see what these drinks look like. Disney has been really leaning into the popularity of villains across all of its experiences lately, with the just-opened Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After show at Disney Hollywood Studios, a Villains Land in the works for Magic Kingdom, and a heroes and villains theme for its new Disney Destiny cruise ship.

In addition to this new offering, guests at the Disneyland Resort hotels can also enjoy other special perks during the Halloween celebration, including treat trails on select afternoons, the option to buy a Halloween-themed in-room celebration, and special offerings at Disney's Grand Californian, including pumpkin carvers, a confectionery display in the lobby, and Halloween-inspired treatments at Tenaya Stone Spa.

Select 70th Entertainment Stays

Paint the Night parade return

Lastly, during the Halloween celebration, there will be some 70th anniversary entertainment offerings that will stick around. The “Paint the Night” parade, “World of Color Happiness!,” “Tapestry of Happiness” projections on “it's a small world,” and 70th updates to Toy Story Midway Mania will all stay. Some of the attractions and areas around the resort will keep their 70th anniversary decor, like the castle sculpture in the esplanade.

By their omission from the list, Disney confirmed that Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration parade and Wondrous Journeys will not continue into Halloween time.

The MagicBand+ interaction points and Key to Disneyland experience will also remain available during the Halloween celebration. These were two experiences that we really loved out of all of the Disneyland 70th anniversary offerings.

We assume that these same offerings will also continue into Christmas at Disneyland have no details on that yet.

Recent Additions You Likely Don't Know About

Coco Disneyland

In addition to these changes to the Halloween celebration at Disneyland, there were a few additions as of last year that are returning once again! You may have missed these newer offerings last year.

At Storytellers Cafe, “Mickey’s Autumn Adventures” debuted last year, which is an autumn-themed character dining experience with characters in seasonal attire. This offering was introduced as part of a larger initiative over the past couple of years to introduce seasonal themes to character dining experiences across the resort.

Another returning change is that the interactive show “Mickey's Trick and Treat” will be returning to the Disney Theater. Last year, this was introduced to Disney California Adventure as a daytime seasonal offering. This will temporarily replace the recently debuted “Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!” during the fall season.

And lastly, the Plaza de la Familia show that was reimagined last year, “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco,” returns again this fall as part of the Coco at Disneyland Plaza de la Familia celebration. The show, highlighting the everlasting bonds of family, features song, dance, and the figure of Miguel, as well as representations of the spirit guides Dante and Pepita.

Oogie Boogie Bash is an extremely popular after-hours event at Disney California Adventure that takes place during the Halloween season at Disneyland on select nights from August through October. There is very high demand for this event, and it sells out every year.

Of course, there are plenty of reasons why you should attend this event—all detailed in our Disneyland Oogie Boogie Bash guide—that you'll want to consider. From rare villain character appearances to the abundance of candy at the Treat Trails, there are a lot of things to love about Oogie Boogie Bash! However, it may not be the right event for everyone for some valid reasons, which we'll discuss more. Here are the reasons why some may not want to go to Oogie Boogie Bash…

There Are Fantastic Halloween Offerings Already Included With Regular Admission

Mickey Pumpkin nighttime

Halloween at Disneyland is one of the most popular times of year to visit the parks, and for very good reason! Disneyland really goes all out with the spooky decor, themed treats, ride overlays, and more special offerings. From the amazing Halloween Screams fireworks show (my personal favorite!) to the spooky Cars Land decor at Disney California Adventure, there is so much to enjoy that is already included with regular admission. Truthfully, these offerings are so extensive that visiting with a regular ticket during Halloween already feels like you're attending a special event at the parks.

That being said, a huge draw of Oogie Boogie Bash, as with all after-hours parties, is the opportunity to meet rare characters. So if this is a priority for you, know that it is not something that you'll be able to enjoy with regular admission (although the Halloween costumes that Mickey and friends wear are pretty fun and add something special to these character interactions)!

The Event Runs Late Into the Evening

Disney California Adventure entrance at Halloween

The Oogie Boogie Bash parties take place from 6 pm to 11 pm. Granted, Oogie Boogie Bash doesn't run as late as the Disneyland After Dark parties do over at Disneyland Park, but the event may be later than some families wish to stay up. Especially if you choose to spend your day rope dropping the parks that day with regular admission (which is an Oogie Boogie Bash mistake we would definitely recommend avoiding), you may find yourself pretty burned out by the time the event begins. This is a consideration for younger kids, especially, as they may be exhausted by the time the party kicks off and unable to truly enjoy all of the offerings.

On top of that, the only event nights are Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, so none of the event nights back up to a weekend. While this may not be a big deal for those already on a multi-day vacation, if you're just planning on going just for the event itself, you'll have to consider the downside of getting up early for work, school, or travel the following day. For those who are not Disneyland night owls, the late hours may be enough of a deterrent to skip this event.

It May Be Less Interesting to Adults

oogie boogie bash

While the Disneyland After Dark parties feel very intentionally geared towards an adult audience, Oogie Boogie Bash, on the other hand, is more targeted towards kids. While this is not a problem for families visiting, it is something to consider if you're visiting with an adults-only group.

A major emphasis of the event is the Treat Trails, where you'll be accumulating huge quantities of candy—a concept that may not be as appealing to adults as it is to kids. The Ooogie Boogie Bash rare characters featured at each Treat Trail stop are fun to interact with—you'll see favorites like Oogie Boogie, Ernesto de la Cruz, Sid, and more—but you can go through these fairly quickly and still have lots of time at the event left to spare. If the concept of the Treat Trails is not exciting to you, then this may not be the best event for you.

While the Disneyland After Dark events have a similar focus on rare characters, they lean more heavily into entertainment, special foods, and photo ops. The atmosphere is also generally more party-like, usually with several dance parties or other interactive entertainment offerings that will appeal more to an adult audience.

Tickets Are Expensive

Judge Doom at Oogie Boogie Bash

We would be remiss if we didn't mention that Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are pricey, enough so to deter some guests from wanting to attend the party. As we mentioned before, there are already so many great daytime Halloween offerings available that some guests may understandably find it difficult to justify the extra price for this after-hours event. Prices range from $134 to $189 per person for the event from 3 pm – 11 pm (not including regular admission to the park before that time frame). Pricing gets more expensive closer to Halloween, as October in particular is typically one of the most crowded times of year at Disneyland (see our Disneyland crowd calendar for predicted crowd levels).

That being said, the ticket is a pretty good value for 8 hours of park time, and this price also reflects the value of the event-exclusive offerings you can only find at these parties. Even so, the high price tag might not be worth it to some with the quantity of Halloween offerings already included with regular admission.

Lack of Entertainment and Organized Event Offerings

Oogie Boogie Bash parade

As we mentioned before, if you're not interested in the Treat Trails, there's not an overwhelming amount of other entertainment to enjoy, and there are some disappointing aspects to the major organized offerings of the events.

The main entertainment offering is the Frightfully Fun Parade, which features a variety of villains as well as characters from spooky films and attractions like the Haunted Mansion and the Nightmare Before Christmas. This is a visually bold parade with an earworm song, but it overall feels a bit underwhelming and short compared to some of Disneyland's other parades, and there are some noticeably less interesting gaps between the main floats.

Additionally, there is a lot of time you'll spend waiting during this parade, as there is a large gap between the Headless Horseman intro and the actual parade. This gap is important, as it's for the safety of the horse and rider, but it does, unfortunately, really kill the momentum of the parade. The parade does take up a big chunk of the party time, and the payoff is not worth it for some.

While Villains Grove is billed as a highlight of the party, some guests aren't super impressed by this offering. This is an event-exclusive overlay of the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail that is a scenescape inspired by favorite Disney villains with projections and sound effects. While this is a cool offering, many are expecting that there will be actual characters and feel that the experience is not worth the long wait. This can be especially disappointing for younger kids who are likely expecting to see characters like they do in the Treat Trails. Additionally, when demand is high for the attraction, the experience of walking through feels quite rushed.

It's Hard to Get Much Done During the Mix-In Hours

Incredicoaster Launch

While Oogie Boogie Bash lets you into the parks for mix-in hours starting at 3 PM, this period from 3-6 PM is not the most ideal time to experience the parks. During this part of the day, ride wait times tend to be at their peak, and unfortunately, you don't have any Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservations to fall back on to skip the lines. You can expect crowds to be high in general during this time as Oogie Boogie Bash guests flood into the park. You'll really feel them in particular if you're attending a party night in October, which is one of the busiest times of year at Disneyland.

While crowds will become more manageable once the party starts, it can understandably still be pretty frustrating to enter the park at its busiest and find enough things to do to make the most of these few hours. While these mix-in hours are better than nothing, you definitely won't get the same quality of park touring that you would get rope dropping Disney California Adventure in the morning.

We always recommend eating dinner during this mix-in time before the event, as you'll want to spend the time at the party exploring the event-exclusive offerings. For the rest of this time, you can consider hopping on some attractions with Single Rider, but this may not be an accessible option for families with kids under 7. It can also be smart to spend some of this mix-in time lining up early for the most popular character experiences, which takes us to our next point…

Lines Are Still Long for Some Characters

Oogie Boogie Bash Strategy Sanderson Sisters

Another downside is that some of the lines can be quite long for certain character experiences. Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle dressed up as the Sanderson Sisters are especially popular, and you can end up waiting hours for this popular meet-and-greet! Even if you strategize to get in line for this experience during the first parade when crowds are thinned out, you should still be prepared to wait 30 minutes or so.

The lines for popular characters can be a big downside for many, as they move slower than the Treat Trails and can easily take up a huge chunk of your night. As for the Treat Trails, even though these lines move a bit faster, the downside is that you are pretty rushed through these!

As we mentioned earlier, lines can be quite long for Villain's Grove throughout the night, and waiting for this experience is a significant time commitment. The best way to minimize your waiting is to prioritize this experience during the first parade, but it's a bit of an either/or between this and the Sanderson Sisters. If you choose to prioritize Villain's Grove during this time but still want to see the Sanderson Sisters, you may want to line up for the Sanderson Sisters during the mix-in hours (up to 90 minutes before the party officially begins).

In general, the need to strategize at all to fit in the most highly-demanded experiences at the event can be enough of a deterrent for some to choose to skip the event.

It's Not the Biggest Foodie Event

Flo's V8 Cafe Oogie Boogie Bash chicken tenders

Disneyland has really leaned into expanding its special food offerings for events and celebrations with some fun themed offerings! You can expect to see lots of cute Disneyland Halloween foods available in general throughout the parks during the celebration, but there are only a handful of event-exclusive foods available during Oogie Boogie Bash. The Disneyland After Dark events are definitely more food-oriented, as each event comes with a full lineup of event-exclusive foods.

This is likely due to the fact that, as we mentioned before, Oogie Boogie Bash is more targeted at kids than adults. Still, looking at Season of the Force over at Disneyland Park as a comparison, there is still a reasonable number of special foods and novelties available for that celebration, and dozens of Star Wars Night-exclusive offerings on top of those. This may not be the biggest deal-breaker in the world, but even so, some may be a little disappointed by the lack of emphasis on food during this event.

Getting Tickets Can Be Difficult

finding oogie boogie tickets

If you want to secure the most desirable dates, you need to be ready to act quickly when they go on sale. In the past, Sunday and Thursday tickets were often the most popular option to sell out quickly followed by the pre-sale dates for Magic Key holders. Tickets have seen a high demand in the last three years with all party dates eventually selling out. If you have your heart set on a desirable party date or have your trip dates already locked in, you should be ready to purchase right when they go on sale.

Thankfully, the ticket process last year was not as bad as it was the previous year. In 2023, the demand for tickets actually crashed the Disney servers, and people were trying to sell tickets on eBay and Craigslist for extremely high prices (some were even listed for $1,999.99). I was purchasing tickets that year, and the process was extremely stressful. For those who heard about that process and are thinking of skipping the event altogether, know that the ticket sale process has already dramatically improved, so this is not as big of a reason to skip the event altogether as it was in the past.

There are some understandable reasons why Oogie Boogie Bash may not be for everyone, but even if you don't end up going, there are still so many great offerings you can enjoy during the Halloween celebration! See our list of the best Disneyland Halloween experiences you shouldn't miss.

Disneyland's 70th anniversary celebration is currently underway, and there are a ton of exciting new offerings available! Around every turn, you'll find colorful decor, an abundance of entertainment, special foods, and other magical details throughout the parks. The celebration runs from May 2025 to summer 2026, leaving a pretty big range of time to visit and enjoy the offerings. However, there is one specific window of time that you may want to consider as you're deciding when to visit, especially if you're a big Disneyland history buff!

There is a set of new 70th anniversary additions that are opening slightly later this summer, including a new attraction! There is a small window of time in 2025 when you can visit and experience new additions with the full 70th anniversary entertainment, decor, etc., before the seasonal celebrations begin. We'll break down everything you need to know…

Consider Visiting During This Window for Disneyland's 70th Anniversary

On Disneyland's actual anniversary date of July 17, 2025, there will be three offerings debuting at Disneyland Park. The most major of these will be a new show featuring the first-ever Walt Disney animatronic called “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” debuting at the Main Street Opera House. The show will tell the story of Walt Disney's life through remastered footage and audio recordings, and at the end, we will see the Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney in his office. Mickey Visit founder Gavin recently visited Imagineering to learn more about this Audio-Animatronic Walt Disney figure and why they are choosing to create it now. Disney says that this will be their “most lifelike audio-animatronic ever.”

This will be a super exciting new addition and a good reason to plan your trip after this date, so you can enjoy this and the rest of the 70th anniversary offerings before the seasonal celebrations begin (see more on this below, including the specific window!)

Also debuting on July 17 will be a new gallery experience in the Main Street Opera House, called “Evolution of a Dream,” which will feature images, art, and artifacts that show Disneyland before, during, and after Walt’s dream became a reality. There will be another special exhibit in the lobby highlighting Audio-Animatronics technology, including Walt's inspiration and how the technology has evolved over time. There will be certain items on loan from The Walt Disney Family Museum, including original items from Walt Disney's private apartment, that have never been publicly exhibited before at Disneyland Park.

And last but certainly not least, there will be a third verse added to “it's a small world” in honor of Disney Legend Richard Sherman on July 17. This verse was Richard Sherman’s final Disney contribution. You can read the lyrics of this third verse in our separate article here. This beautiful new verse and the debut of the Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure are doubtlessly going to have quite an emotional impact on Disneyland fans. These are all very fitting additions for Disneyland's actual 70th anniversary date.

If you want to visit with the full 70th anniversary atmosphere and offerings before the seasonal celebrations kick off at Disneyland, then you'll technically want to visit between July 17 and August 21 this year. We say “technically” because you'll want to actually visit a few days sooner than August 21 if you want to experience all of the 70th anniversary decor in its full glory, as this is when they'll start putting the Halloween decor up in preparation for the celebration's start date on the 22nd. The 70th anniversary decor will return in full force after the seasonal celebrations end, but this won't be until the holiday celebration ends in January 2026. You can see our guides to Disneyland at Halloween and Disneyland at Christmas for an overview of the offerings and dates of these celebrations.

When the seasonal celebrations kick off, we are assuming that the majority of the 70th anniversary decor will be taken down and replaced by Halloween decor. We will likely see some of the 70th anniversary decor remain in places like the castle, esplanade sculpture, etc. For both celebrations, certain entertainment offerings will temporarily pause for seasonal entertainment. For example, Paint the Night will continue throughout the year, but we assume that Wondrous Journeys will need to pause for the Halloween and Christmas nighttime spectaculars. We are waiting on exact the exact specifics on how the seasonal celebrations will impact entertainment offerings.

Meanwhile, the Disneyland 70th anniversary foods and other smaller offerings like the MagicBand+ interaction points and Key to Disneyland scavenger hunt will likely be unaffected by the seasonal celebrations. See our ranking of all of the Disneyland 70th anniversary offerings here. If you want to visit in 2025 with all of the announced 70th anniversary offerings, including the new show and “it's a small world” verse, then this window from July 17 to August 21 is the time to do it!

There are a few key things to consider for a visit in July! In our Mickey Visit Disneyland crowd calendar, we project that there will be average crowds throughout most of the month, with some higher crowd levels on the weekends. You can also enjoy longer days and expanded hours of operation during this month, which is key for fitting in all of the Disneyland 70th anniversary entertainment.

Unfortunately, one downside is that the weather is going to be hot. There are some good ways to stay cool that you'll want to read about in our tips for navigating summer at Disneyland, but you'll definitely want to have a plan for beating the heat!
