One Big Thing in Disneyland News – 4th of July at Disneyland

This year, the 4th of July holiday is on a Friday and backs up to the weekend, so you can expect that crowd levels will be higher. Three out of the four Magic Key passes are blocked on the 4th of July, but Inspire Key holders and tourists visiting for the holiday will balance out the absence of those groups. While crowds may feel more manageable during the day, you will definitely feel them in full force in the evening for the fireworks show.

Disneyland puts on a special fireworks show called “Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky,” which is currently scheduled for 9:35 pm on the 4th of July. This show featuring patriotic fireworks, music, and projections only takes place on this one holiday. You'll definitely feel the impact of the holiday crowds turning out to see this fireworks show, as this is the main draw of the holiday at Disneyland. In addition to the special 4th of July fireworks at Disneyland, you can also enjoy the full scope of Disneyland 70th anniversary entertainment and special offerings.

You can also watch the Flag Retreat Ceremony at Disneyland, a daily ceremony honoring veterans. Last year, the 1st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton, San Diego, performed in a special Flag Retreat Ceremony on the 4th of July. We do not yet see a special offering listed on the calendar yet, but you can still expect the ceremony to take place at its usual daily time at 4:15 pm.

At Disney California Adventure, there has also been a “Spirit of America” special World of Color show in the past, but nothing has yet been announced. Usually, there are some special 4th of July treats available at the resort, but this year, we have only seen treats announced for Disney World so far. You can see more details on celebrating this holiday at Disneyland in our guide to the 4th of July at Disneyland!

Important Disneyland Dates This Week

pirates of the caribbean disneyland entrance

  • On Tuesday, July 1, Pirates of the Caribbean will no longer be offered as a Lightning Lane Multi Pass ride. It was added last year as a “temporary” offering due to the construction happening in New Orleans Square and ended up sticking around for way longer than we thought it would! You can see our separate article on this and why we expect it will be a good change here.
  • Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are currently on sale, and there are still party nights left! This popular after-hours Halloween party in Disney California Adventure features rare characters, trick-or-treating, the Frightfully fun Parade, the Villains Grove scenescape, and the opportunity to dress up in a costume. See all information on 2025 Oogie Boogie Bash dates and tickets here, including dates and prices for the parties. You can also see the dates that have already sold out for Oogie Boogie Bash here.
  • The Disneyland Resort 70th Anniversary Vault Collection dropped today on the online Disney Store. The Disney Store has started to drop the Disneyland 70th anniversary collections online! The Disneyland Resort 70th Anniversary Celebration Collection, Disneyland 70th Anniversary Walt Disney Nostalgia Collection, Disneyland 70th Anniversary Castle Collection, and Disneyland Resort 70th Anniversary Vault Mickey Mouse & Maps Collection have been released. Check out photos of all of the Disneyland 70th anniversary merchandise in our separate article here.
  • Officially starting next Monday, July 7, three exclusive Star Wars Coca-Cola designs will be available at Disneyland. We have seen reports of these already showing up in Disneyland, as we highlight in the “Other Disney Content We're Watching” section below. These designs, available only at Disneyland and Disney World, highlight The Mandalorian and Grogu, First Order Stormtrooper (featuring Rise of the Resistance), and Chewbacca. You can see photos and more details in our separate article here!
  • This week, it will be pretty hot at Disneyland! Make sure you don't forget sun protection like hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. Also, a reminder that ice water is free at all quick-service dining locations! During the warmer summer months, it's extra worth it to arrive early in the morning for rope drop so you can enjoy lower crowds and temperatures. See our Disneyland rope drop strategy and Disney California Adventure rope drop strategy. Make sure to schedule table-service dining in the afternoons as a way to escape the heat, or you can grab a Lightning Lane reservation for water rides like Tiana's Bayou Adventure or Grizzly River Run. See our guide to summer at Disneyland for more tips to stay cool!
  • Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room had a soft reopening over the weekend. This attraction has been closed for refurbishment since late April. This is a good week to grab a Dole Whip and enjoy the air-conditioned show here!

  • Registration is now open for the annual fundraiser, CHOC Walk In the Park! This walk through Disneyland and Disney California Adventure takes place before the park opens, and proceeds go towards funds for CHOC's programs, education, and research. • To celebrate the release of Disney’s newest movie, Elio, there is a special Art of Pixar Gallery inside the Pixar Place Hotel that allows visitors to experience a piece of the visual development process of the Elio filmmaking with drawings, paintings, and sculptures. You can also participate in an Elio photo opportunity in the Pixar Place Hotel lobby.
  • Speaking of Disney hotels, inside the Disneyland Hotel is a new Photo Booth! Find it near Goofy's Kitchen. It costs $10 and provides two printed copies of the photo strip, with three poses per print. Anyone can enjoy this, not just hotel guests!
  • Eight Disneyland rides are closing for refurbishment this summer in the coming weeks. Make sure you're aware of these closures if you have a trip planned! See the closures in our separate article here.

Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga will have one showtime a night. Paint the Night runs twice a night, and The Celebrate Happy Calvacade runs twice during the day.

What We're Thinking About This Week

  • Emily thinks the new Star Wars Coca-Cola designs look really cool and likes the Mandalorian and Grogu one in particular, which features concept art of the changes coming to the Millennium Falcon ride!
  • Gavin is now back from Hong Kong Disneyland and excited to share more about his first trip to this Disney Park. He might now have a new favorite Disney ride in the world.
  • Lindsay is thinking about how the removal of Lightning Lane for Pirates of the Caribbean is a much needed change back to a better experience for one of the best Disneyland rides. The attraction is efficient for loading guests so there's really no need to slow things down with a Lightning Lane.

Disneyland Crowd Calendar This Week

This week, you can expect mostly normal crowds with a few days of above normal crowds mixed in. The 4th of July holiday backing up to a weekend will have an impact on crowd levels as we discuss in more detail in our “One Big Thing In Disneyland News” section above.

Most local schools are out for summer break now. While crowds can be noticeable during the summer, this time of year is not quite as busy as some of the peak times of the year at Disneyland, like Halloween in October and the holidays. During the summer months, it's especially important to make good use of Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Disneyland to skip the lines for attractions! See our Disneyland Lightning Lane Multi Pass tips for making the most of the service.

You can see our rating of all upcoming dates in our Mickey Visit Disneyland Crowd Calendar.

New Disneyland Ride Closures This Week

Here are some of the other current ride closures that are continuing into this week:

  • Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is closed for refurbishment
  • Matterhorn Bobsleds is closed for refurbishment
  • The Disney Gallery is closed for refurbishment

You can see reopening dates for some of the above attractions and other upcoming closures in our Disneyland ride refurbishment guide.

Other Disney Content We're Watching

Each week, we'll share some of our favorite information and fun content from across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube in an effort to spotlight some of the great creators who work so hard to share details from Disneyland.

First up, we wanted to share this video from Miguel (@gentlemansdisney on Instagram) highlighting the soft reopening of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room! The garden area has been refurbished and some elements repainted. Here is a look at the Tangaroa Tree, which is back in working order again!

Next, we wanted to highlight this video from @themagicalthumbs on Instagram featuring one of the best Oogie Boogie Bash costume ideas we've ever seen! These are so much fun.

We also wanted to include this post from @foodatdisneyland on Instagram, sharing a first look at the new Star Wars Coca-Cola bottles that have arrived a little early at Disneyland, seen at Ship to Shore Marketplace.
